Energy Therapy with Proven Results: Reconnective Healing

I had the opportunity to talk about Reconnective Healing to a networking group. Due to this fact, I did some research into the effects of Reconnective Healing. One of the things that drew me to Reconnective Healing was the fact that scientists were brought in from the beginning to study this modality to determine what was happening. Remember I came from a left brain world.  I love that research opportunities were utilized. Even though I’ve always had an interest in spiritual things, I still liked having some confirmations that it could be very real. And the scientists came from various parts of the world and from some prestigious universities and organizations like Dr. William Tiller, professor emeritus at Stanford University, Dr. Konstantin Korotkov from St. Petersburg State Technical University in Russia and Dr. Gary Schwartz at the University of Arizona. read...

It’s All about the Moon!

We headed out to the Ventura promenade the night before the super moon night to check out good photo positions. I know there are tons of photos of the moon over water in a stock gallery but I wanted one of my own! And I wanted one that was orange and big! We have many great photographers in Ventura.  I consider myself a wannabe! I’ve lived here for close to 32 years. I’ve been to the ocean, listened to the surf, photographed it in its’ many moods at many times of the day. Somehow I missed one thing. I’ve never been at the promenade near a full moon. Well, at least not at the rocky section of the promenade. I’ve known we have a lot of rocks and boulders in Ventura. Our house is on an ancient river bed and we can get some pretty massive boulders when we start digging in our yard. We found some massive ones when we began putting in a vegetable garden. read...

Unexpected Lesson During an Arts Grants Meeting

I learned of a grants for arts program through the Ventura County Arts Council that combines an artist with a partner who wishes to create a benefit for the community. I had an idea and decided to check out the meeting. I currently have no partner, just an idea that has been in the back of my mind for some time. The meeting was like other business presentations but I soon learned that it also had exercises. During the presentation, I learned that you could apply for a grant from the Arts Council. The artist and the partner could continue to do additional fundraising for the project to get the monies needed. read...

Overcoming Anxiety, Restoring Joy

I am always talking about looking for validation from within, yes? So why then do I forget at times and start stressing over whether so and so or what’s his name thinks about me? Did I do something to lose their love? The simple answer is I’m human. I’d love to think that I don’t do that anymore, but I’d just be fooling myself! I had a call during the morning from a relative who was in the mode of being hurt, rejected, and feeling unloved. As I listened, I reminded them that what others thought of them has nothing to do with who they are. That when others act or say things that can appear cruel , that it all has everything to do with themselves and not with the person to whom it is directed. read...

Head Cold: Metaphysical or a Virus?

From the very beginning I felt the head coldwas related to the funeral. Our son’s father-in-law, Don, had passed, a big loss to a close knitfamily. We left early for the Jewish memorial services, then went to the house as prescribed. At the burial site, I hugged those whose loss was deep, holding on tight as I felt the sobs run through the body. At the house, I listened to various people talking about loss, their relationship to Don, I listened to Don’s son talk about his dad, a close member of the family talking about life, families,  a hospital volunteer who knew Don and had also lost her own husband, my daughter-in-law who recounted events in the last week. Our grandsons were part of the memorial program and did a beautiful job. Yet I knew the grief was there. read...

Online Coaching for Social Networking is a Good Idea

What would you expect to get from a social networking class? Most likely how to effectively use various components of Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, right? Maybe how to use Facebook for business in a more effective way. I did expect to learn how to increase twitter followers  athough I still wasn’t so sure I liked twitter. I also learned the importance of organic SEO where your postings are found organically. So the last thing I ever expected from a Social networking class was to find my voice , to gain confidence in my knowledge, and to learn how to share it more effectively. (Now I understand that my husband, family and friends would say I’ve always had a voice!) read...

Foodie Vacation – Always!

I’m a foodie.  Seems like I’ve been one forever so maybe I came out of the chute that way.   I know I bugged my working single mom to teach me to cook and soon I was making home cooked meals at age 11 or 12. I never stopped cooking. My love of food continued and grew. So it’s no surprise to anyone who knows me that any vacation is going to include great food, preferably gourmet food.  Luckily my husband loves food too.  He’d have to love food or I wouldn’t have married him.  I stopped dating a guy because he didn’t eat onions! read...

Pacific Grove California

My husband and I took off for the first time in years this Thanksgiving. We took a break from our daily routine and visited a favorite spot for us, Pacific Grove, California. With that rugged coastline along the bay, Monterey, Carmel, Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium, there was plenty to see, savor both in taste and for the eyes, and take tons of pictures. And I did take pictures with my Nikon, my Lumix and my cell phone. The Lumix was amazing to use inside the aquarium. The early morning hours were the best for picture taking along the coast. There weren’t many people about either, just the very hearty joggers and bikers. read...

Family Break Part 2

As Ray drove, I took some shots of the country side.  It was a gloriously beautiful day but blazingly, brutally hot and humid, too. We finally came upon a sign that read Yellow Butterfly Winery.  As we drove up the winding driveway, we came upon a beautiful huge barn completely painted yellow. There was an alpaca rolling in the dirt behind an enclosure, too.  As we walked up the stairs, we saw a sign in the window:  “Wine a little bit… You’ll feel better”.  Ray commented that the “ch” fell off the sign, that’s what the dots represented! read...
